ARES is a fast-paced, skirmish-level fantasy game. Initiative is determined by assigning one card from a standard 52-card deck to each unit. The assigned cards are shuffled and the unit assigned to the top card goes first, the unit assigned to the next card goes second, et. cetera. The system is adaptable to any setting, allowing players to use figures of their choice. Sequence: Initiative, Action (2 actions per figure: 1 may be held; and in certain circumstances, a figure may borrow an action from its next turn) The demo version does not include rules for magic or figure creation. Requires: 25-30mm miniatures, d4, d8, d10, d12, markers for indicating targets and results, standard 52-card deck, unit record sheets
